Aer

We designed a writing desk paying homage to early aircrafts and the adventurous spirit of aviators.

The desk is composed of two metal surfaces and a beech wood frame. Each metal surface is sandwiched and hand-stitched in Catalonian cow skin leather. Two planes running almost parallel, meet at the connection with the wooden frame to form a continuous line that completes its geometry. This straightforward profile allows for open storage of books and stationary on the lower level, and a warm, tactile work surface on the upper plane. Leather straps with silver buttons secure the table top snugly to the leg frame, the inspiration of this detail coming from chin straps of early flying helmets.

We pictured an unknown aviator, writing a letter to a loved one before embarking on a flight. Molded into the leather table surface is a writing tool, an imprint of his action.
